On seeing the DSS and EFCC officials at the airport,Chief Buruji tried to dash back into his car
which was packed on the runway of the airport.His counterpart Femi Fani Kayode was nota ware of what was happening as he had been busy engaging on the phone.When he saw the security officials get closer and grab him,he had an utter look of shock and bewilderment on his face!
Things then got wild as the security men of the two powerful politicians got into a scuffle with the EFCC and DSS men.At this point there was screaming and shouting by everyone present,other passengers leaving the country included.
Chief Kashamu kept insisting he was not going anywhere as the arrest was illegal while Fani Kayode looked amused by it all and kept smiling through the commotion.
When the Nigerian National Herald today and some other members of the press reached out to the head of EFCC at a hastily arranged press conference at the airport,asking why the two men had been arrested,the Chief of the EFCC said he was sorry but could not give any details as this was a highly sensitive matter.He however said if they wanted more insight on the matter,they can contact the DSS hotline on the matter on the matter using the code APRIL FOOL.
Nigerian President Buhari has insisted at various times that the fight against corruption is a zero tolerance one in which no one is spared.It remains to be seen if this was why the men were arrested.Femi Fani Kayode was involved in a controversy a couple of weeks ago when it was revealed that huge sums of money was payed into his personal account.Buruji Kashamu was involved in a bitter battle which saw the NDEA try to get him extradited to America on drug charges.They failed as the courts ruled Buruji should not be extradited to the USA.
