Femi Fani Kayode faces Jail in 17 count EFCC Corruption charges

Fani Kayode news. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has filed a 17 count charge against Femi Fani Kayode,a former Aviation Minister and spokesman for the PDP Presidential campaign in the 2015 general election, over an alleged N1.5 billion fraud. Also included in the charge sheet are former Minister of Finance, Senator Nenadi Usman, a company named Joint Trust Dimensions Limited, one Danjuman Yusuf and another Olubode Oke, who is reportedly on the run. The outspoken politician could be seriously in danger of facing jail bearing in mind the number of counts against him.In a Femi Fani Kayode latest news development,it was revealed that the case is yet to be assigned to
a judge and so a date for the hearing has not been fixed. While Fani-Kayode was named in all 17 counts, the former Finance Minister, Nenadi Usman was named in only four of the charges.

Part of the charges against them reads

"Usman, Fani-Kayode, Yusuf And Jointrust Dimensions Nigeria Limited on or about January 8, 2015, within the jurisdiction of the Court conspired to indirectly retain the sum of 1.5 Billion Naira, a sum the EFCC said they reasonably ought to have known formed part of the proceeds of an unlawful act of stealing. They, therefore, committed an offence contrary to Section 18 (a) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) (Amendment) Act, 2012. The Offence is punishable under Section 15(3) & 4 of the same Act,2".

Bank representatives  and others have been listed as witnesses.
Less than 24 hors ago,the  influential PAN-YORUBA socio-political organisation, Afenifere had called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to either charge to court or set free former Minister of Aviation and Campaign Director of the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign, Mr Femi Fani-Kayode.
In a statement by Afenifere’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr Yinka Odumakin, the group called for the “immediate release of Femi Fani-Kayode who will be clocking five weeks in EFCC cell on Wednesday.” The statement reads: “We are being told that EFCC is planning to get another detention order to continue his incarceration. We are at a loss as to why EFCC has failed to announce to the whole world that he committed a crime by collecting money for campaign and hold him for five weeks without charging him to court.”
Well,i guess that wish has been granted and FFK is about to have his day in court.Would he be released on bail pending that time though? Hmmm, the way things are and judging on how this administration has been carrying on,i doubt that.Sadly FFK might have to spend longer time in their guest house.
