Koffi Olomide deported in Kenya after assaulting female dancer(Full story)

Koffi Olomide Kenya. The Kenya authorities really did me proud by taking swift action against Koffi Olomide and deporting him from their country after he assaulted one of his female dancers in the full glare of the police and other people standing by at the airport.

In the video that has since gone viral on social media, Olomide is seen kicking the dancer in the presence of police officers at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on his arrival.

Koffi then apologised on Friday evening after he saw the video, saying that he was
defending his dancer from a lady who was threatening them at the airport.
“I watched the video with a lot of distress where it seems that I was assaulting one of my dancers. On the contrary I was defending my dancers from a lady who was threatening them at the airport,” he said in a Facebook post.

He was arrested on Friday night, and was in police custody till Saturday morning. He was sent back to his home country via a Kenya Airways flight that left the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) at 11:35AM Kenyan time. His arrest followed directives given by Kenyan Police chief Joseph Boinnet  who had given notice and instructed airport police to take immediate action.

His lawyer George Wajackoyah who confirmed the deportation says, ‘He has been deported. His plane is still on the runway. The police didn’t proffer any charges against him because there was no complainant. So they decided to whisk him away. I will be talking to my client later to see what action he is going to take for this inhuman treatment’.
This must be a joke, inhuman treatment to Koffi? After he attacked and assualted a woman? He is lucky he was not prosecuted and jailed afterwards.

I was disgusted when i saw the video of the assault initially, especially as i saw some Kenya Police officers pacifying Koffi. He was even held back as he wanted to follow up on the vicious kick he aimed at the woman. How a man of 56 can do this so publicly to a helpless woman ,i will never understand. It shows he has been doing things like this for ever.

The impunity displaced by certain people who think they can do whatever they like simply because they have achieved a level of fame ,riches or power in frightening.Sadly this kind of behaviour is more prevalent in Africa. Why? Simply cos they know they can get away with it.But the Kenyan police and authorities have shown they will not tolerate this kind of violence and impunity towards women,no matter who you are.

Kenya’s Youth and Gender Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki later signed a statement calling for his deportation describing his conduct as an insult to Kenyans and the constitution. The statement can be seen above.

The Congolese singer has a long history of violence. In 2008, he was accused of kicking and breaking the camera of a cameraman from DR Congo’s private RTGA television station.

Olomide was then in another incident  convicted in his home country in 2012, after assaulting Diego Lubaki, his producer.
