Reedemer University Killer Tolani Ajayi shunned by Family&Friends

Tolani ajayi snubbed by friends and family
Tolani Ajayi-Redeemer Univeristy student who killed his dad has been shunned by friends and family
Tolani Ajayi the Redeemer University student who killed his father has reportedly been shunned by friends and family.
The Family and friends of the Redeemer’s University (RUN) student,Tolani Ajayi , who recently butchered his father are yet to visit him in detention almost two weeks after his arrest, police sources have told ENCOMIUM Weekly.
“Nobody has visited him here (Eleweran, Ogun State Police Command headqaurters). Nobody
wants to be associated with a man who deliberately killed his own father. That is an abomination nobody wants to be identified with in any way. It was only his sister, who just called him last week. His mom is so devastated and shocked by his wicked act that she can’t look him in the face. Some of his friends only call but he is not usually in the right mood to answer them.”
One of them our reporter was directed to meet at Omole Phase 2, Isheri, Lagos, openly denied knowing him beyond being a RUN schoolmate. He even denied being in the same department but faculty with the death and hell bound black sheep.
“To be frank with you, we are not friends”.

Personally i still think there's more to this story than meets the eye.In "Naija" we tend never to look at the genesis of a problem, and that is exactly what may be happening all over again,he has done a terrible thing in killing his father, but why did he do it?We don't know or care to investigate.I somehow just don't believe this "Tolani Ajayi boy just woke up and killed his father",the boy either has serious psychological problems or might have been reacting to constant abuse.
Anywhere else but Nigeria, there would be the need to know this boys state of mind,it is probably worse now with all the backlash and rejection..but hey,i patiently wait and see what is next..moving on to the report by Encomium Magazine...

Similarly, authorities of RUN have also tactically distanced themselves from Tolani Ajayi  . In RUN’s first official reaction to the widely reported shocking incident, their spokesman, Mr. Tunji Adeleye on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, expressed the university’s displeasure over reports that attached the name of the institution to the heinous crime.

“We are strict and enforce scriptural values. Any misconduct or plan for misconduct can earn summary dismissal. RUN is not a rehabilitation centre, parents cannot transfer their responsibilities to institutions. But we don’t have information from the parents about how he was raised. So, we cannot assume anything. People should not add to the family’s agony.
“The case did not happen under our jurisdiction. Tolani Ajayi  has even said he was on holiday. We don’t have much information more than what is already reported in newspapers.

Only God can remedy the damage that reports about this case has done to the image of RUN. People should focus on the investigation by the police because it has nothing to do with us.”
“In any case, the Vice-Chancellor is not available now. We will reach out to you when he is available to give any information we may have on the boy,” Adeleye assured.
Meanwhile, The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) may have warned their residents at the Redemption Camp on Lagos/Ibafo Express way, where the incident happened, not to volunteer information to the public. That was the situation when ENCOMIUM Weekly visited the camp on Saturday, July 12, 2014.
None of the residents could give us information on the family of the deceased who lived on Canaan Street in Redemption Camp. (The rest of the family live with their lawyer mom in Abuja). They were also not willing to direct us to the building where Ajayi, a lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) was hacked to death by his son,Tolani Ajayi  on Thursday, July 3, 2014.

” I don’t know what you want, please. I’ve not been around for a while. You can go to RUN or direct your inquiries to the appropriate authority,” a resident said.
“We are not authorized to speak on this matter, please. The case is already being investigated by the police”, said another person we approached in the camp.
Corroborating their position, an official of RCCG, Pastor Kunmi Oyekunle said we should not ambush police investigation. Pastor Oyekunle, who spoke with us on Sunday, July 13, 2014, however added that nobody can say anything on the issue for now since the General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye is yet to comment on the incident.
“It’s quite unfortunate it happened. Its sad such incident is being linked to RCCG. We are saddened by it”.

On the part of the police, ENCOMIUM Weekly was told that investigation into the matter is going on hitch- free. We were also briefed on the latest development.
Said the Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Police Command, Muyiwa Adejobi, in an e-mail he forwarded to us on Monday, July 7, 2014:
“Please, be informed that the suspect has revealed that he takes drugs and that he had got involved in drug related – issues with his school management.
We are still on the case”.
Muyiwa Adejobi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police also assured the public during the week that investigation would reveal every hidden truth about the crime committed by Tolani Ajayi.
“The boy did not deny anything. He did not attempt to run away when our men got to the house. It is quite unfortunate. Something propelled Tolani Ajayi  to kill his father in such a gruesome manner but we will leave that to the court because he would be arraigned soon.

“The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikemefuna Okoye, commiserates with the family, particularly the wife of the slain lawyer for this unfortunate incident and we will liaise with the management of RUN on the matter”.

On the assumption that Tolani was under the influence of drug when he murdered his father, he admitted he does drug but was badly provoked by his late dad which led him to slaughter him. He also said he has been praying to God for forgiveness while equally urging his family to do same.
It would be recalled that the Ogun State Police Command had arrested a 21-year-old student of Redeemer’s University for killing his own father.
The incident took place at Redemption Camp along Lagos Ibadan expressway in the early hours of Thursday, July 3, 2014.

The body of Barrister Charles Ajayi, 60, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), according to the police, was seen and recovered in a nearby bush at Canaan land Street in the RCCG Camp, in a box, after he had been killed by his son.
The suspect Tolani Ajayi, 21, a 300 level undergraduate of Department of History and International Relations of Redeemer University, was arrested same date in his father’s residence, the scene of the incident, at around evening after the discovery of the corpse and police preliminary findings.
The DPO, Redemption Camp SP Olaiya Martins had led a team of detectives and some members of the community who noticed the strange attitude of the suspect while dumping a box, to the point where the body of the SAN was dumped and thereafter traced the ground marks of the dragged box from where the suspect dumped the dad’s corpse to the house of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria where they apprehended the suspect.

Upon interrogation, the suspect earlier lied that his dad had gone on evangelism before he eventually confessed to the crime when he was taken to the Redemption Camp Divisional Headquarters.
Tolani Ajayi  stated further that the problem arose when his late father confronted him and slapped him for not responding to all the prayer points he (the deceased) raised.
He said he went mad and went straight to the kitchen to pick up a knife to stab him and later a cutlass to cut his throat and.
The exhibits which include the knife and cutlass he used in committing patricide had been recovered by the Police and the corpse of the SAN had been deposited at a morgue in Sagamu.
