Former captain of the Super Eagles, Austine ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha, has asked Nigerians not to blame either Stephen Keshi or the players, for their 1-0 defeat to Sudan on Saturday.Jay Jay Okocha,i love you so much for what you have done for NIGERIA,but in this case you are very wrong.Nigeria's football is no way long dead and gone.Stephen Keshi
the coach is the one who is long dead and gone! We won the cup 2 years ago,did well at the world cup,so how long dead and gone are we?I will tell you why Keshi is the one responsible for our current decline.Every one in Africa were saying Nigeria waas back 2 years ago and we weere gonna rule the continent.Even Okocha said so,so how did it all go wrong less than 2 years?
How did we get to the point where Bakri Abd Elgadir’s header in the first half, ensured that the African champions are yet to win a single game in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers? If we don't blame Keshi, who are we gonna blame? The only thing Keshi has not been given is his salary on time.Everything else has been at his disposal. Why continue experimenting when we had a settled team?
Now,this result also puts Nigeria’s participation in next year’s tournament in doubt and Okocha says the problems did not just begin yesterday.
“Anyone that blames Keshi or the boys is short sighted. Our football is long dead and gone. This is just the confirmation” Okocha tweeted.
As much as i love Jay Jay,i'm gonna have to totally disagree with him on this.Nigeria won the nations cup 2 years ago.Did well at the world cup by making the last 16 and would have gone even further if Keshi had been more tactical.I blame Keshi. He chooses the team and the tactic.Keshi has been stubborn very arrogant and keeps experimenting with the team. That team should be ruling Africa with the way we won the Nations cup.
But i think that success went to Keshi's head.Inviting the wrong players and doing nonsense really. How can Jay Jay say our football has been long dead if we are defending champions and gave Argentina a scare only a few months ago at the world cup?The happenings in the NFF has nothing to do with the failure of the team. Its all down to Keshi. Those guys have not interfered in the team and left Keshi to do as he pleases.
Take yesterday for example, why didnt Sone Aluko play when we needed goals?Leaving Uche at home for the world cup, dropping Moses from the team and just recalling him now when he was desperate.Same thing with Uche,he was not good enough to go to the world cup,but suddenly a few months later, you recall him..and you expect him to answer the call with all the rubbish you said about the boy in the press?
Keshi has a lot to learn. His man management skills are rubbish.Even Emenike was in the papers just before this game complaining about him.
Nigeria is at the bottom of the group with one point and hosts Sudan next week Wednesday.
