Nigerian Youth Corp Builds impressive Drone that can monitor traffic

Mrs. Titi Laoye-Tomori, Osun State Deputy Governor, gawked at how a drone built by Olaolu Ayoola, a graduate of Computer Science/Engineering of Lautech, Ogbomoso, took off and carried out surveillance of the parade ground at the NYSC Orientation camp yesterday. . . Security agents present described it as a good
invention. The device, which can fly for 500 meters, carried out live recording of the event which was monitored on a blackberry phone. Apart from its military use, Ayoola said: “This type of drone, if fully developed, could be used by farmers. . . You can deploy it to fly round a farm of about 20 hectares and you will monitor what is going on on the farm right from where the remote control is"

Ayoola the NYSC member also said the drone "can be  be used to monitor traffic situation and in case of flooding, the drone can monitor the area. . . I spent over N20,000 to build this but I can do something with a bigger capacity and which will stay for more hours in the air if fund is available." The deputy governor said she was impressed and that Ayoola should assembly youths anywhere he was posted to serve and teach them how to do it.

That's the problem with Nigeria and the clueless leader we have.Is this the kind of comment that the deputy Governor should make? They should be jumping on this Ayoola, giving him all the support he needs to build bigger and better things and see how far he can go.Instead the deputy Gov thinks he should assemble students and teach them how he did it.We really have clueless leaders.
All the things Ayoola stated can be done with this drone seems not to interest the Deputy Governor,Its just so sad that Nigeria has these kinds of leaders ruling us.Very sad,cos in the country, Nigeria has vast talents in every field. We should be on par with the UK and USA with our resources and talent.Instead we only come 1st when it comes to how many corrupt officials and pastors have private jets!

My take is anyone who builds anything in Nigeria is 3times as talented as those in the West cos we have no encouragement and resources to carry out these projects. You have to work 3 times as hard and be three times as inventive as they are.
In my opinion Olaolu Ayoola is unfortunate to be in Nigeria or unfortunate to be around at a time we have clueless leaders. It might sound harsh, but that is the simple truth of the matter.
Ayoola the Nigerian Youth Corp who built a drone.
