My belief was Kayode Fayemi,the ex Governor of Ekiti State accepted the result of the Ekiti Guber election which he lost to Ayo Fayose.Fayemi was even commended by the public for playing politics the way it should be played,conceding defeat and congratulating Fayose.So imagine my surprise when i learnt he had actually taken Fayose to court to
challenge the verdict.Could Fayemi have been pushed by party officials to take this action or was he just missing that lovely bed in his bedroom that reputedly cost millions of Naira?
Anyway,an Ekiti state governorship election tribunal sitting in Abuja has upheld the June 21st governorship election in Ekiti state in which Ayo Fayose was declared winner.I don't think Fayemi actually thought they could win this.
At a sitting today Dec. 19th, the tribunal dismissed the petition filed by the APC and its candidate, Kayode Fayemi, challenging the victory of Gov Ayo Fayose in the governorship election. The court in its ruling said the petition filed by the APC was “lacking in merit”.
