Ram Fighting in Nigeria a phenomenon that has been around for ever!

Ram fighting  in Nigeria is a phenomenon! Here a guy who engages in ram fighting, gives an insight into what it takes as you can see in his series of posts. Basically what happens is,you get two rams pit them against each other, and they slam into each other with their horns and fore head till one gives in.
There is usually a big crowd watching these fights and the spectators goes crazy for the rams..it's not
unusual to see loads of rams with their owners waiting their turn to fight.A funny story happened to my brother when we were growing up in Nigeria. We bought a ram as we always do for Christmas celebartions. My brother and his friends took the ram to the field in the evening so it can feed on some grass. On getting there, there were others who had brought their rams for the same purpose as well...Inevitably as boys do,they pitted their rams against each other. My brother could not resist the temptation of ram fighting, even though he had been warned not to fight with the ram.He did and the ram got such a pounding that it collapsed and died right there on the field! Needless to say,my brother got a beating that was as close to the one the ram got that day! True story.
Ram fighting,these guys don't play!

This practise has been around in Nigeria for as long as one can remember. It started out as fun  and was very popular during the muslim festival called Ileya. You also get some at christmas as well when the Christians mark their own celebrations, but it is more popular in the Ileya period. But now for some people it is turning into a business. They bet huge sums of money on these rams..This is why you see this particular guy here talking about how he trains his ram, Badoo. Some might think these act is cruel, but hey, some thins just happen, they become tradition and i don't think anyone can stop this particular one in Nigeria.Ram fighting has become too powerful and popular in that area.
