Oh my oh my! Has Jose Mourinho gone too far this time? He called Arsene Wenger "a specialist in failure" today.

Mourinho's comment came after Wenger said clubs who downplay their chances of winning the

title do so because of a 'fear to fail.'

The Chelsea manager, who once called the Frenchman a 'voyeur', has repeatedly said his
team are outsiders to lift the Barclays Premier League trophy.

'Wenger is a specialist in failure. I'm not,' said Mourinho at his Friday press conference.He described his team as a 'little horse' and third favourites in the title race, despite the fact they are top of the league.

'If he is right it is because I don't fail many times. Eight years without a trophy is failure.

'The reality is he is a specialist. Eight years without a piece of silverware, that's failure. If that was me I would not come back to London. I'm not fearing anything in football.'

Pundits speaking on Twitter thought Mourinho may have over stepped the mark with his comments.

Gary Lineker said Mourinho was 'out of order', while Gary Neville asked if anyone was going to 'take him [Mourinho] on' at his mind games.

Speaking on Thursday in an exclusive interview with Sportsmail, Mourinho said that the Premier League was now a 'four horse race' with Liverpool serious contenders.

However the Portuguese only allowed his praise to last for so long, before he claimed that Brendan Rodgers has an advantage because his team do not have to play in the Champions League.

‘If Brendan has a chihuahua it is one that trains a lot and rests a lot. The other dogs, they don’t train a lot because they play a lot and they don’t rest because they play every three days.

‘And when the Barclays Premier League goes to the crucial point, we all will have to play Champions League at the same time.

‘To play, for example, like we are going to do in Istanbul against Galatasaray on the Wednesday,  Fulham on the Saturday.

‘Brendan’s chihuahua doesn’t do that. During the week it sleeps, eats and trains a little bit. So I have to say his chihuahua is a privileged one. Next season he will see what it is like to play in two, three, four competitions. This season he has this privilege which gives him a big advantage.’

Title contenders: Mourinho also claimed that Liverpool are in the title race as they don't have to play in the Champions League.

As defending champions, the title is Manchester United's to lose, not leaders Chelsea's, Mourinho argues.

Mourinho is Chelsea's most successful manager after twice winning the Premier League in his first spell and was reappointed by Blues owner Roman Abramovich last summer on a four-year contract, which the Portuguese hopes to extend, but only on merit.

'I don't want eight years,' Mourinho said. 'I just want my contract of four years to do my work and after that (I will) deserve or not deserve a next contract.'

After delivering his riposte to Wenger, Mourinho was reluctant to discuss further the Premier League title race, with his attention on the FA Cup.







Chelsea travel to the Etihad to face Manchester City on Saturday in the FA Cup. First choice center back pairing John Terry and Gary Cahill are both missing for the Blues, but Manuel Pellegrini will welcome back Samir Nasri and Javi Garcia to his team.

Chelsea were expected to play defensively and 'park the bus' when the two teams met in the Premier League last Monday, but Chelsea surprised everyone with a brilliant counter-attacking performance that gave them a 1-0 win.

He said he would approach the game in the same manner, although they are likely to end up being different.

'There are not two games the same,' he added.





'Is the approach the same, in the sense we are going to try to win in spite of playing the best team in this country? Yes.

'We don't want a replay, we don't need a replay.

'We are not going there to try to get a draw and to bring the game to Stamford Bridge.

'We want to play, we want to try to win. If we do, we do. If we lose, we lose.'
