Musician Etcetera Finally replies the critics!

The man himself,Mr Controversy,Etcetera.

Nigerian Musician Etcetera is sure one brave man.He seems to have upset everybody in the entertainment industry since he started writing his articles.So,i decided since we have not heard a word from Etcetera why he writes or how he feels about the criticisms he has attracted,I will ask him about this in an interview,which i did.But i shall come to that later.  

• Etcetera finally says what he thinks about the criticisms
• Answers question if he is playing music 

I quite like Etcetera,i like people who can speak their minds and damn the consequences.Now this does not mean i have agreed with all that Etcetera has said lately,but i do admire his guts.
The Nigerian entertainment industry is a close knit family and if you are an outsider,you have a tough job
breaking in.And right now Etcetera does have a lot of enemies putting it mildly.

Tiwa Savage and hubby Tee Billz gave Etcetera a piece of their minds separately.

Etcetera started off with the article on second hand husbands and wives in the Nigeria entertainment industry.I must confess,when this first surfaced,i had no idea who he could have been referring to.In fact to be honest,i thought it was a bit of fictitious writing with Etcetera just playing with words and innuendos.But alas,it was not so.Anyway if we are going to believe Tiwa Savage and her husband.They clearly thought he had been referring to them,cos coincidentally,Tiwa Savage was getting married around that time.
Before then i had always seen Tiwa Savage as a mild character,but when i saw her rantings online i could not believe my eyes! She really went to town dishing out missiles big time! I guess you can't mess with a woman who's in love.
Not only did Tiwa blast Etcetera online,but her husband Teebillz did equally the same..below here is what Tbillz posted online in reply to Etcetera

But amazingly Etcetera did not say a word in reply to all these,instead he just quietly moved on to his next topic,the man is on a mission.

This time Etcetera had something for the radio station personalities ,the On Air personalities(OAP) as they are called these days.If you make enemies at media station,you are gonna be struggling for support and airplay,so this particular article surprised me when i read Etcetera's piece on the Nigeria on air personalities.
Without mincing words,"Etcetera attacked the on air personalities" .This is some of what Etcetera had to say about the OAP's 

Radio is in a period where only the ‘blings’ and ‘blingers’ are getting all the attention. This must be the worst time to listen to radio in Nigeria. Consider some of the on-air-personalities, all they do is talk about what their favourite celebrities are wearing.

How easily manipulated and distracted can they be? A fake accent has never been more glorified than today.

With on-air-personalities chasing celebrity status themselves, radio listeners are never going to get any unbiased assessment of issues. 

Dj Freez was the next to fire back at Etcetera.

Ouch,that was hard.And unsurprisingly a couple of big shots came out gunning for him. Freez from Cool Fm went all out and gave back as good as Etcetera threw at his industry...here's some of the tweets he posted online..



Olisa Adibua was also caught in a night club while he was enjoying himself and asked about Etcetera's antics,Well even though Olisa was high in spirits,he still had this much to say:
“Etcetera is a nobody. He’s a failed artist. I cannot comment on anybody who is a nobody. I hate the fact that Nigerians pick on people who are nothing. He’s a nobody so no one should take him seriously. What has he done? Who is he? Etcetera, shut up! If you want to get recognition, bring out a song. I’m not against any idiots who don’t have any talents.”- Olisa Adibua - 

I particularly don't agree to that summation though,Etcetera is a very talented musician and having hits does not determine or make you talented.A lof of factors are involved.In another period ,Etcetera would have been a huge star,unfortunately his kind of music is not being appreciated right now in Nigeria.
But why did he write that piece on the industry? Has he given up music? Did he not realise it would be like biting the fingers that were gonna feed you tomorrow?

Olisa Adibua  of Beat Fm was the next OAP to hit Etcetera hard!

And once again,Etcetera failed to reply to any of this.
There were also outcries at Etcetera calling Nigerian musicians Gigolos and whore to endorsements,calling for the banishing of beauty contests and i'm sure there's more i can't remember.
So i went looking for a word or two with the man himself.Mr Controversy Etcetera.I was excited when i finally was in touch with him.I told him i was from Queen Of The Naija Blog and asked him "what do you have to say about all this outcry and controversy you are generating"? In a funny way i knew what to expect.Etcetera is not a stupid man.And probably knows his silence is worth more than his answer.You only have to listen to his songs and lyrics to know this.Plus his writings which have gained all these controversy,whether you like them or not,you will concur this was written by an intelligent guy.

So i asked and waited for my answer..Etcetera answered,"Nah,i have nothing to say,i won't comment on those things.No vex" Chai! A man who wrote all that stuff? All those words and i get only a fews words? Dearis God o..i said this to him,and he laughed wryly.I wasn't gonna push him cos not even a gun to his head would have made him say more.So i asked,Etcetera,can you at least tell us if you have given up music? He replied "I am first and foremost a musician" And that was it!

So Etcetera will remain an enigma,would be interesting to see what happens when he releases a song,will the media houses play it? Will the notoriety he has earned now force them to play it or will he have an audience with or without their help based on his new profile?
Only time will tell.Like i said earlier,Etcetera is not a stupid man,he must have known the reaction he was gonna get for this articles and yet he keeps them coming.
I am sure there will be a few feather yet ruffled and more enemies than friends along the way.But does Etcetera care?
Somehow i don't think so.
