Why Bamidele Aturu who died today is a Nigerian Hero

Bamidele Aturu a Nigerian hero.

Another Nigerian hero departs.
I read about the death of Bamidele Aturu a few minutes ago.I have never heard of him before now.But i can tell you his death is a big loss to Nigeria.Bamidele is the kind of men we need in Nigeria. In 1988,when he was only 23 years old and without no name ,he "refused as a corp member to shake the hand of a military administrator of Niger State, Col. Lawan Gwadabe"during his
NYSC passing out parade. Bamidele had declared then that the military had caused great harm to the democratic aspirations of Nigerians. I can't even begin to imagine how brave that was.Do you know what it was like then to say No to the military in Nigeria? If you were not around then ,you are a very lucky Nigerian.Rightly so after that incident he came to prominence as a fighter against power abuse. And this was a young man,a student who knows his actions might have led to anything..even death!
I can only begin to wonder what a Nigerian like Bamidele Aturu this would have done had he gotten into power in Nigeria. It is a sad day for Nigeria and Bamidele Aturu's family and friends.I pray for power, strength and comfort to them all.And i weep for Nigeria for yet again losing another hero, when there are many useless men who should be dead and buried right now!
Mr Aturu studied law at the University of Ife, and devoted much of his legal practice to representing marginalised or oppressed individuals and groups.

He was nominated as a member of the ongoing national confab, but he renounced his membership, arguing that the conference was designed to achieve nothing.
Mr. Bamidele Aturu died today after a period of an undisclosed illness. He was 49 years old. May his soul rest in perfect peace
Bamidele Aturu you are a Nigeria hero.
