A Turkish Airlines (THY) cabin crew chief, Selda Durmaz, died early Saturday of malaria after returning from a flight to Lagos, Nigeria. She was initially
diagnosed with flu when she went to a hospital after her return to İstanbul due to a highfever. She sought another examination at THY’s medical unit as the symptoms persisted. She was then diagnosed with malaria and later admitted into a private hospital in Bahçelievler district. She was receiving treatment at the hospital’s intensive care unit but died at 1:30 a.m. early on Saturday.
