The controversial media personality, Toke Makinwa was born in Abuja, Nigeria. Her parents later relocated to Lagos. Toke is the second child among 4 children. Unfortunately she lost both her parents at an early age and was raised by foster
parents, Mr and Mrs Akinyelure.
Toke Makinwa was born on November 3rd 1984. She attended the Federal Government College, Oyo state. For her tertiary education, she also later attended the University of Lagos and bagged a degree in English Language and literature.

Before her admission into the University of Lagos, Toke had her first radio experience. She on on to finish her education but retained her interest in the media.

Toke Makinwa later got married to her long-time partner and health instructor, Maje Ayida, the couple had been together for over 7 years, they had a private wedding on January 15, 2014.
Barely 2 years after her wedding, the marriage hit the rocks. Maje allegedly had impregnated his estranged girlfriend, Anita Solomon.
The tragedy was the rave on social media as people found it ironical that the vlogger whose success emerged from giving relationship tips was having a rough time in hers. Toke had earlier mentioned that her then spouse did not fancy her vlogs.
