Linda Ikeji gives N5m to 15 girls in i'd rather be Self made Project!
Nigeria's biggest blogger Linda Ikeji,is putting her money where her mouth is.Linda announced a while ago she wanted to start a project for young girls in Nigeria to make them self made and stop sleeping with men for money.The idea of the project was for girls to send in their business ideas and face a panel to defend their business ideas.Those chosen will then be financed and funded by Linda herself.
She has chosen the first beneficiaries and given out over N5m to 15 girls!
It doesn't end here as another N5m is due for another set of girls and Linda wants this to be a yearly project fr as long as possible.
In her own words,she explains how the process took place...
So here's how it happened. I met with over 800 ladies in January this year, I got a panel to look at their proposals, we asked about 50 of them to present their ideas to us and then we shortlisted to 15 girls who are the first beneficiaries of the 'Linda Ikeji I'd Rather Be Selfmade' project. Above are 11 out of the 15 beneficiaries. Four girls who live outside Lagos (Jos, Umuahia, Ibadan and Warri) couldn't make it to our meeting this past Sunday August 23rd.
This money is 100% my own money. I didn't collect a dime from anyone. I want to first give away this N10million and see what the girls do with it before getting others involved. I'm truly hoping to make a new set of self made women and like I said when I stared this, I plan to do this for as long as I can. Once this N10million is exhausted, I will bring out more money.
Two of the girls got over N600k each, another two got over N500k each, two got over N400k, others got over N300k and N200k. Only one girl got N150k.
Also, I told the ladies/beneficiaries that if I see that their business is going well and they are really dedicated and extremely serious about succeeding, I will pump in more money into their businesses and by the end of 1 year, any lady who has most succeeded with the little they got to set up their business, will get an additional N1million. Two of them will actually
get N1million each.
This is very impressive and inspiring.I wish Linda Ikeji well and more blessings.Whne you think about it,how many celebrities or successful people do you see putting back into the society? Seldom few..If we had more people like these who put back into society,thing would not be so bad and hopefully these people when successful can recipocate.This is what the world needs.
Take musicians for example,they charge upcoming musicians to appear on their songs.Shouldn't be so..We should give others a helping hand..Live and let live...
