Polio in Nigeria the race to eradication.Nigeria got a clean bill of health as the World Health Organization (WHO) announced that polio is no longer endemic in Nigeria. WHO announced this via its twitter handle. Polio was truly a terrible thing while it existed on Nigerian shores.I saw some pictures of some polio victims in Nigeria and i was just speechless.What i was used to seeing was polio victims with skinnier legs than the other and being aided with a walking stick.I remember as a child,i had a few friends at primary school who had polio.I also had an uncle who was a victim.But the pictures that is aw blew my mind! I saw young people that could not even stand with a
stick and were on all fours like a four legged animal,It was a terrible and distressing sight.I am so happy to know that ,polio in Nigeria,will not rear its head again.And i hope the very few handful of countries where this plague is still present,be it in small numbers,are permanently eradicated.
