ABEOKUTA—The Ogun State Police Command has rescued a-four-year-old pupil of a private school in Obalende, Ijebu-Ode, Attahiru Amisu, from his abductors.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi in a statement, disclosed that policemen had arrested the leader of the kidnappers, Wale Ogunbadejo, who allegedly masterminded abduction of the boy.
Oyeyemi said the victim was kidnapped on October 18, when one of the gang members went to the school and pretended to be a relation of the boy, acting on the instruction of the boy’s parents to bring him back home after school.
According to Oyeyemi, the boy was handed over to him only for the real mother to come few

minutes after.

The gang later called the parents of the boy and the school authority, demanding N5 million ransom.
Oyeyemi said: “The case was reported at Obalende Division in Ijebu-Ode and the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, dispatched the anti-kidnapping team, led by SP Olumide Jimoh, with a marching order that the boy must be rescued unhurt.
“The team swung into action and their effort paid off on October 21, when the hideout of the gang was busted and one Wale Ogunbadejo, who is their kingpin, was arrested and the boy rescued unhurt.
“The victim is now with his family, the suspect undergoing interrogation, while a manhunt has been launched for the fleeing members of the gang.”
