Did you see Danny Devito on Graham Norton show?I love the graham Norton show by the way.Devito was on it and he talked about the Danny Devito short film Curmudgeon.
But that was not the fun part even though Curmudgeon from the preview looked like a wonderful film. The fun part was the pint sized actor telling the story of the day a monkey bit his crown jewels on the Batman film set, hahahahaha.
DeVito told a bizarre story about the time a monkey attacked his testicles.DeVito had fellow guests Ewan McGregor, Sam Neill and Miranda Hart literally falling about while he recalled an utterly odd experience from the set of Batman Returns."That was horrifying. That was a
horrifying experience," he admitted.
"It was a little spider-monkey. I had the suit on, I had all the gear."The monkey was coming to deliver a note to the Penguin from Batman. Tim Burton, he's a wonderful guy. I'm just in this big suit with the beak and the whole megillah with the hands and flippers. [Tim] says, 'I'm going to show you what's going to happen now. We've got the stunt people - the trainers'."So, the monkey's up on a high staircase. There's one trainer up there, and one trainer down below. They click something to call the monkey. The monkey comes down, it's got the note in its hand that he's supposed to deliver to The Penguin. He goes and gives it to the [stuntman], it's cool! I say, 'Let's do it!'
They put the monkey back up there, and I put [The Penguin's] black, dark green mouthwash so that when I talked… it would kind of ooze out and drip down. I go over to the staircase, they roll the cameras, they let the monkey go up top, and I walk up to the edge."I wait for the monkey, the monkey comes down, takes one look at me and leaps at my balls! I swear to God, it was horrifying. It was slow motion. I mean, I saw [an angry monkey leaping toward me] and he grabbed a hold! Now, thank God that I'm in this suit that's full of all this padding and shit. He grabbed a hold [of my crotch], he took a big, big mouthful.
Everybody went crazy! The monkey is attached to me!"The trainer comes over, pulling the monkey off! He rips the monkey off of my leg! I did not feel a thing, thank God! This far away, I probably wouldn't be telling this story."And that's the story of a long-lost Batman Returns deleted scene. Oh wait…"We did it again! It's in the movie,"
Devito sure tells a great story, just as he always puts in a great performance in his acting. One of my favourite all time movies ever is the Danny Devito directed movie,War of the Roses.Brilliant film.
