For the fourth time,Ronaldo has won the Balon D or 2016 award for the best player in the world. He won the coveted honor voted for by 173 football journalists worldwide on Monday 12th of December. It was no surprise as the odds had been in favour of the Real Madrid striker to win.
But it is not the greatest achievement in the history of the award. How many times has Messi won the ballon?A massive 5 times and that is the level that Cristiano is gunning for.He would be doing all he can to equal the number of his rival and surpass it,but you can bet Messi would be equally doing
the same. Can you imagine if those two were not born in the same generation? It would have been ridiculous by now.Thank the gods that they have each other to push them to greater heights.
Bet your last dollar that these two will be competing again in 2017 at the forefront.

The Real Madrid man had a phenomenal year winning the Champions league and helping his country Portugal win their first major honor ever, the European championship, beating the hosts France in a thrilling final. The 31 year old 6 ft 1 inch striker, however was not in Paris to collect the award as he was away at the Club World Cup which Real Madrid is currently participating in, in Japan.

Messi came second in the award while Antonie Griezmann of France/Atletico Madrid came third.
FIFA will hold its own award 'the Best' awards in January and Ronaldo is favorite to win that award also.
